The first line of the bestselling book, Good to Great by Jim Collins, makes a powerful statement. Collins writes "Good is the enemy of great." Collins and a team of reseachers studied enduring great companies for five years to discover why one set of companies became truly great performers while the other set remained only good. Collins also writes, "That good is the enemy to great is not just a business problem.  It is a human problem." 

Great Light Coaching would like to make an even bolder admission.  Good is the enemy to God.  We must fight against what we believe is the American dream: a good job, a good house, a good family, good friends - well, you get the idea.

Pursuing the good life may cause you to settle for less than God's best. Over time, mediocrity leads to passivity. We sleep-walk through life and never really make an authentic appearance.  Outwardly we seem content, but inside we know something is missing. We sense God has a purpose for our existence, but we never press in to find out why we are here. We gauge our progress based on what our friends, colleagues, and neighbors are doing. One of the saddest things in life is to reach the end of your journey here on earth having totally missed the reason why you were born. 

According to Bill Hamon, author of The Day of the Saints, 98 percent of Christians work outside of the local church. Therefore it become vital to determine if you are effectively influencing and transforming lives. If pursuing money has become your main criteria for work, it's time to change your perspective. God desires to use you to transform your sphere of influence with creative solutions and the power of the Holy Spirit.

On the surface, your life may appear good. You probably have tried at least most of the time to make good decisions concerning your life. You may have a good home, a good job, a good family life,  and even a good church. You seem to be living the good life.
Yet, secretly: 
  • Do you want to be more effective in your life's work?
  • Do you desire to be all that God has called you to be?
  • Do you long to find your place and to make a difference?
  • Do you want to minister effectively right where you are?
